Featured articles are considered to be the best articles on VirtueVerse for a variety of reasons. They are nominated by someone who is not the owner the proceed through a vetting process before being posted for a vote by all VirtueVerse users. These articles can be chosen for their prose, style, or other unique features and are meant to inspiration other users in the creation of their own pages.

As we are currently working to implement this process now the content here is subject to change.

[edit] Types of Featured Articles

[edit] Nomination Process

Articles are nominated for feature by users using the templates provided below. It is strongly discouraged for the owner of an article to submit it themselves. Articles that have previously been featured cannot be featured again but will remain part of the list of featured content.

Once an article has been nominated, it will be qualified by the sysops as meeting a set list of criteria. These are merely technical criteria and are meant to keep entries that are clearly not feature material out of the polling process. Three sysops will be required at minimum to vet and score an item article based on the official scale below.

[edit] How to Nominate an Article

Place {{NominateFeature}} on the talk page of the nominated article and save the page. Its really that easy and ANYONE can do it!

[edit] Process for Sysops Once an Article is Nominated

  1. Visit to see a list of all current featured article candidates.
  2. For new candidates, visit their talk page link from the category, "initiate the nomination" to create the page that will be used for the qualifying votes. For current candidates you will instead see a link that says "leave comments".
  3. After clicking the link you will want to add your qualifying vote for the article on the page. If it is a new candidate you will be creating the page from scratch. If an article does not qualify please post why on the page and again on the talk page for the article. Sign with ~~~~ and save the page.
  4. If the article has already been initiated you will see a link instead for "leave comments". You will need to read the article, complete your qualifying, then click this leave comments link to add your yes/no qualifying vote.
  5. Once a candidate has received three qualifying votes from sysops remove the {{NominateFeature}} template from the article talk page, and add the article (Not the talk page) to the Featured Article Qualified category.

[edit] Qualifying an Article

As a rule Featured Article nominations will go through qualifying by three sysops not based on preference, but to weed out pages that an author has clearly not placed a fair amount of time into. The scale below was designed with this in mind, and sysops are urged not to judge the content but the content's technical presentation.

1. Is the article well written?
  • Is it free from excessive grammar, spelling or typographical errors?
  • Caveat: If the item is written in character and grammatical errors and typos are used in a thematic manner to represent that character an article should not be judged poorly for this alone.
2. Is it an original concept free of copyright infringement or plagiarism?
  • Caveat: Humor, satire, and derivative works (as defined by Fair Use) should not be considered copyright infringement, unoriginal or plagiarism.
3. Is this article in line with all VirtueVerse Policies & Guidelines?
4. This article has not been Featured previously on VirtueVerse?

If the sysop is able to answer yes to all questions the article is ready to be presented to the community for a vote. For this a poll will be placed on the VirtueVerse Forums where all registered users will be able to place a vote. Polls will remain active for about a month and the new features will be selected from the results of that poll.

Articles that do not make it as a main feature for the current upcoming month will be on the vote for the following month and only removed if:

  1. the content no longer qualifies,
  2. the content is removed,
  3. or by request of the owner.

Sysops are urged to include details and suggestions for any questions they answer no to when qualifying an article.
