[edit] Origin Story
Leaving Canada with his family at an early age Paul became an American though the time honoured practice of immigration. Immersing himself in the rich history of his new homeland Paul quickly grew to love his nation. When America joined the second world war he signed up, lying about his age to get in. He quickly learned that war holds very little glory and a whole lot of pain, but his belief in the fundamental right of all people to be free kept him going, to emerge a survivor.
He was married when he returned home, to Helen his pre-war girlfriend, got a job at a nuclear Powerplant, and in 1949, fathered a son. A son born prematurely when Helen went into labour upon hearing of an accident at the plant where Paul worked. The Accident, in fact a narrowly avoided tragedy, occured in the mid afternoon, the details are sketchy, most reports are classified due to the nuclear research also being conducted at the plant. Paul himself claims to remember next to nothing of the event, the only details which are consistant are: There was an emergency, possibly a nacent meltdown in the core, Paul and one other man went in, somehow Paul's suit ripped and he was dosed with a masive amount of clean safe nuclear radiation.
He spent three months in hospital, the other man, who's name remains unknown is believed to have died rescuing him from the reactor. Paul was released from the hospital withiout cancer, lymphoma or any other adverse effects from his exposiure, which mystified doctors no end. It was then the incidents began, a little too much static from the dryer, a shock getting out of the car.
Late in 1949 Helen became preganant again, this time with twins. By the time His youngest son went to Vietnam Paul was prone to random wild surges of elecrical energy which would discharge from his body. In 1971 one of these surges killed his wife. Deeply depressed he checked into a hospital to try and get cured. Eventually a group of researchers from G.I.F.T diagnosed his condition and encouraged him to harness and make use of his powers.
Learn to harness them he did, but refused to use them content to simply ignore them as much as possible. Save for work, he withdrew from society, spending his free time watching old family movies, newsreel footage and war documentaries on his old projector. Over the next two decades his children grew up, surpassing their father in age, it became apparent that his he was not merely 'well preserved' but still on or around 25 years of age physically. Again G.I.F.T. was called in, and determined that he continued to age, but at a dramatically reduced rate. In 2005 his Children were 56 and 55, he was 27. He now had two grandchildren as well, one of whom was only two years younger than he seemed to be. Watching his friends and relatives age before his eyes while he remained young and fit drove him to drink.
In 2007 a Council raid on the Docks in Independance Port went badly. A shoot-out between Family and Council forces became a deadly cross-fire in which several civilians, including his daughter's husband were killed. Paul was re-united with his family at the wake, and learning of the circumstances took to the docks to find and kill as many 'Nazis' as he could find. He found no satisfaction in his murderous revenge, vowing to take no life again.
A week later The Sixty-Second Man was born, a hero dedicated to the highest ideals of justice and to the values upon which a great nation was built.

Paul Murdoch looks upon society in part awe and horror. Awed that civilisation has progressed so far, and horrified that it has slipped so low. Unable to resolve the two he seems to have wrapped himself in the imagery and faith of the nations past glory. His powers are significantly weaker than testing reveals they should be, possibly due to the trauma of having caused three deaths with them prior to becoming a registered hero. The first: that of his wife. The second and third that of a Council Soldier and that soldier's son. Seems to have an almost pathological need for patriotic symbols and phrases, almost as though he draws strength and reassurance from them.
[edit] The Justice Guard
The Sixty-Second Man quickly found that in a city of Heroes, criminals had adapted and become stronger. Finding it hard going he thought to amass a group of Justice minded heroes to aid him in his quest to eliminate evil and despotism from the world. Hearing of the exploits of Liberty Guard: the embodiment of patriotism, and his group of Super heroes: The Justice Guard, Sixty-Second Man sought Vampire Sally, a high ranked officer within the Guard and making an appeal for inclusion was quickly accepted. A position he has found agreeable, the ideals of Justice and non-fatal Villain intervention suiting his mood perfectly.

[edit] Military Applications
The Sixty-Second Man was approached by members of a firm specializing in military hardware, they had developed a suit of powered armour, lacking only a power supply. while they were confidant one small enough would only be a short way off, they wished to test the armour now. They reasoned that Sixty-Second Man could power the armour with his own electrical current, thus taking the place of the soon to be invented power supply. The armour saw it's first test in the warzone.
[edit] The Second Rikti Invasion
Was severely injured during the second Rikti invasion, reports are sketchy but information available attests that he blames Longbows inaction for the almost fatal defeat of himself and his team at the time. Longbow forces claim that all available squads were engaged with Rikti and would not have been able to assist without endangering the public.

Following the Invasion's first relentless assault Captain Amazing, one of the co-founders of The Justice Guard, approached him about taking a position as a Leader within the group, having risen to a rank of Sergeant in the army before returning home Sixty-Second man wasn't sure he would make a good officer, but was convinced to accept anyway. he now spends what time he has not fighting evil thinking of ways to make the Guardsmans lives better and aid their causes.

Assisted members of Tokyo based super group in dispatching Facist Iron Samurai warriors. In return several modifications were made to his power suit. In it's new configuration it effectively absorbs and rechannels his excess energy, which allow him to engage in combat without having to constantly worry about arcing off and injuring someone unintentionally.

Following a recent attack on the Justice Guard headquarters by forces unknown the Sixty-Second Man has been reported missing, along with co-founder Liberty Guard.
