Seiken

Although Seiken is not a real character, he has enough history to get his own page. He is Luficia's sword and "partner against crime." He is popular for his snarky remarks and bad pick up lines. It is even reported that one person wanted a plush made out of the sword.

[edit] Personality
Seiken likes to give villains and anyone else he doesn't like the idea that he is a childish, snarky, flirtatious sword that is a tad bit over protective of Emily. This is part of his plan.
In truth, Seiken is very intelligent beyond his act as an obnoxious sword. He can act like a total goof with good perverted jokes and insults that he would say while others would refrain. When you've been stuck in a sword for over nine years, wouldn't you come up with good pick up lines?
However, he is a very lonely man and clings on to Emily and Felicia a lot. He is very over protective of the two and the recent edition to the family, Jeremiah.

[edit] Childhood and Obsession
Seiken wasn't always a sword. In fact, he used to be a human being named Emlyn Engel. He was born on September 5th, 1926 in Paragon City. Ever since he was a boy, he was fascinated with the more mystical parts of the world. He had two childhood friends - Alice Smith and Julius Levine. When Statesman and the original Freedom Phalanx stopped Nemesis on July 4th, 1932, Emlyn and Julius decided found it as 'evidence' that magic truly did exist and swore that they would study on it together.
In 1945, when World War II finally ended, he gathered up all the money he had and would travel to different parts of the world with Julius. Together, they followed leads of possible mystical artifacts that they could study. When they did succeed in finding such things, they would study each one and then sent them to be preserved in Emlyn’s personal warehouse. During one of their expeditions, Emlyn came across an old story about a woman who had great magical power and could strike her enemies down with a sentient sword call Seiken. It was said that she destroyed an evil warlord and sealed away the book that gave him the ability to use magic that was forbidden for anyone to use.
Emlyn became obsessed with finding the sword and the book. Emlyn and Julius would seek out leads and would travel all over the world. One day, they followed a rumor about an old labyrinth that was recently discovered on the coast of Alaska. They would explore it and inside, they would find the book trapped behind a seal. It didn’t take them long to learnt how to break it and would take it back to America.

Emlyn and Julius would study the book together, trying to translate the runic text. It told great secrets about magic and how to manifest and control it. While fascinated, Emlyn decided it was best to limit his time studying it out of fear of what such power could do to the mind.
Julius refused to heed his best friend’s warning and would study and practiced every day. The more Julius practiced, the more his skin would pale and the color of his hair would turn as white as snow. Fearing for his best friend, Emlyn would take the book and would seal it away in the warehouse. This caused Julius’ mind to snap and would break into the warehouse, stealing it.
When Julius discovered his warehouse was broken into. he felt he had no choice but to stop Julius himself. He would make a simple costume and practiced with the magic he was able to learn in that time. He would call himself The Black Engel. With everything ready, he would track Julius down. By then, it was clear that Julius lost all of his sanity and had taken many lives in his wake. Julius called himself the Witch King and he was ready to kill his former best friend.
It was a long battle but The Black Engel was victorious and helped the police place the Witch King in the Zigg. Even though the public urged him to continue his heroic career, he retired the name as quickly as he created it. He preferred the simple life and had other plans.

On August 15th, 1950, Emlyn Engel married his childhood friend, Alice Smith. In 1951, Alice Engel gave birth to Edward Engel. Like his father, Edward was fascinated by the mystical parts of the world. His plans changed when he met Emilia Dennis at the age of 16. When Edward turned 19, he wanted to marry her.
Although Alice was against it, Emlyn reassured her and urged his son to marry her "before she runs away from our crazy bunch!" On July 17th, 1970, Edward Engel married Emilia Dennis. With his wife, they would take over Emlyn's company that he ran with Julius in the 1940s and 1950s. Instead of studying them and storing them away, they would document it and then donate them to MAGI so none of the artifacts would fall into the wrong hands.
On August 9th, 1977, Edward and Emilia welcomed their first daughter into the world. Emilia named her Felicia, after her own grandmother. Three years later, Emilia was pregnant again and it was thought that she would give birth to a baby boy. Edward wanted to name their second child after his father.
However, on September 28th, 1980, Emilia gave birth to another baby girl. Edward was disappointed, but Emlyn laughed it off and came up with the perfect solution.
"Instead of Emlyn, call her Emily instead! She can be my little Emily!" Emlyn would laugh at his own inside joke.
Emlyn felt he had everything he ever wanted. He married to a beautiful wife, had a son and had two little granddaughters. He felt nothing could ruin such a happy family.
[edit] Vengance
Unbeknownst to him, Julius had escaped the Zigg and was watching the happy family. Julius had other plans for and he wasn’t about to let him get away with it. He wanted revenge and he knew just how to do it.
On January 8th, 1996, Emlyn's wife disappeared. The Paragon Police searched everywhere but no one could find her. Three days later, they would find Alice's mangled body.
Emlyn was heart broken and couldn't understand who would do such a thing to his wife. She meant everything to him. After the funeral, Emlyn would return home and would meet face to face the Witch King, the one he thought he put away.
Julius didn't call himself the Witch King anymore. Instead, he called himself Zaraknis. Emlyn did everything he could to fight Zaraknis off but he was an old man now. He was easily overpowered and Zaraknis dragged him off into Perez Park.
He ripped his soul from him and stored it into a tiny green crystal. After ripping the body to shreds, Zaraknis modified a broadsword so that he could attach the crystal at the tip of the hilt. With a simple curse, it allowed him to talk and gave his soul the ability to see despite the lack of a body.
The next day, he would take the sword and would hire a few men to go with him. They hid in the alleyway of a movie theater over in Galaxy City. They waited for Edward, Emilia and Felicia park their car and they would confront them. Edward and Emilia were gunned down but Zaraknis missed Felicia escaping from the scene. Emlyn witnessed all of it and felt horrified that there was absolutely nothing he could do.
Emlyn was also forced to witness Zaraknis travel with a few Circle of Thorns and confront Emlyn’s most beloved granddaughter, Emily Engel. She was captured and forced into one of their caves and into a tomb that was built specifically for the occasion. With the aid of a strange man, Emily would be put in a comatose state and her body would be preserved with magic. With every set in place, a powerful spell was cast over the tomb that began the fusion process between Emily and a very, very powerful demon that was held within the tomb.
Zaraknis tossed the sword into the tomb, taunting him, "My dear colleague, I hope you enjoy watching your granddaughter change slowly into the perfect killing machine against mankind! It might take ten years for the fusion to be complete but at least you will get a front row seat to the death and destruction!"
The tomb was sealed shut and Emlyn was alone with a comatose Emily and the demon’s painful roars.
[edit] Rebirth
As each year went by, the roars would slowly stop and the demon’s physical body began to disappear and mix with Emily’s own shape. He watched Emily’s body began to change and on the ninth year, she looked like a horrible hybrid of a human and a demon.
Emlyn refused to sit around any longer. He had to do something and was very desperate to save the only member of his family. He became adapted to his imprisonment in the crystal and he had enough magic infused in the sword to manipulate with.
He gathered all the magic up into his crystal and forced all the power to be sent through Emily’s body and mind. It ripped right through her and forced the fusion to stop at only 89% completion. It also did a lot of damage to her mind. Confused and having only a demon’s instinct to kill, she woke up with a snarl and destroyed the tomb with the raw power the demon had. She grabbed the sword and would drag herself outside the tomb and outside of the cave.
Emlyn did everything he could to calm her down by calling out to her in her mind. Even if she couldn’t recognize the voice, it was enough for her to calm down enough for her human side to take over and slowly revert back to normal. She was found and taken to a nearby hospital.
He could only watch Emily struggle and knew he had to guide her somehow. He didn’t want to tell her the truth yet and felt he would give her a new identity until the time was right.
He would call her Luficia.
He would call himself Seiken.
[edit] The Engel Family
Even if most of them are officially deceased, Seiken keeps them close to his heart. That is, if he still had one.
- Alice Engel: His wife. Deceased.
- Edward Engel: His son. Deceased.
- Emilia Engel: His daughter in law. Deceased
- Felicia Engel: First granddaughter. She has taken up the mantle of The Black Engel
- Emily Engel: Second Granddaughter. She is the hero, Luficia
- Duncan Garrick: Emily's husband. He considers him family. He's missing.
- Jeremiah Garrick: Emily and Duncan's adopted son.

Happily repaired, Seiken has 'evolved' as a result. Thanks to a secret contact that repaired him, Luficia was able to figure out how to "curse" other weapons and modify them for Seiken to go in. That way, no matter the weapon, he can manipulate the magic to let himself talk.
His current favorite 'home' is the Talsorian Sword.
Not only that, but Seiken is starting to struggle with his life as a sword. There is a beautiful young girl that seems to look past the sword and is the only one that calls him sexy and, apparently, is quite sincere about it.
She is called Blase' but Seiken knows her as Amelia. If he had a heart, she caused it to flutter. She is the only person that Seiken drops the perverted sword act and will try to be himself. His only fear is if Amelia knew who he used to be and how old he really is, that she might turn away from him.
It made Seiken realize just how lonely he really is...
Also, Seiken is captured and his crystal is in the hands of Doctor Crom. Only the Doctor knows what is happening to Seiken and if he will ever be the same.
