[edit] Origins

His war experience in those five months was quite...bizarre. Everything from rampaging aliens, to looting meta's and scheming magi, Kieran has fought his way through almost everything imaginable and lived.

Malak enlisted into the United States army the moment the Rikti War started. During his tenure he served along his now longtime friend Kieran Blane, While Kieran is quite eager to share his various war stories amongst the other veterans, Malak almost detests the idea of sharing his experience. It is because of this most of Malak's past has yet to be put together. He claims a variety of stories of seeing his parents burned alive, to losing his newborn son to a magi, from what is known, Malak neither served close to his foster parents nor did he ever come close to marrying anyone.

What is known is sometime during the war he encountered Circle of Thorns taking innocents hostage. During this time he vanished from his squad when they needed him most leaving them vulnerable to enemy fire. Somehow Kieran made it out alive; a few hours later Malak was found not too far from the caves. When a second squad reached the caves they found them desolate with a mess of charred bodies and the scent of brimstone fuming from the cave.

After the war is where his path parted with Kieran's. Malak literally fell off the map, showing up when Kieran called he agreed to form the Empyrean Mandate with him along with the distraught Adrian Desmond.

[edit] Personality

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race”

- Calvin Coolidge

His belief in the righteousness of the Mandates actions and the belief that he is committing to a holy task is a source of great strength for Malak, enabling him to commit acts that would make more moral, reasoned individuals cringe, and giving him the will to hold his ground in the face of great odds or past defeats. Combined with his secretive nature and fanatical degree to which he pursues his ends it makes him a very deadly opponent. That said, despite his rough edges there was a soft spot beneath all that hatred which may still show albeit it gets more rare by the day.

For the most part his personality is quite vile, crude, and twisted. However those who grow closer to him have held the belief there is a good man under it all.

[edit] Strengths & Weaknesses

"For a human he is as hard to kill as I am" - Labal

He fights with all the skills of a trained man at top physical condition and then some, whispers of horrific surgeries performed on him to enhance his strength have only serve. His faith also seems to be a source of great protection against most -dark magic-. Combined with his slight psionic potential it makes him a very hard to get a clean hit on.

Despite his ability to fight with the best meta human at close combat he is next to useless with any ranged weaponry having infamously shoddy aim. The experiments performed upon combined with his armor have made him fortified against basic ammunition but anything of special quality, (Ex. Cryonic Rounds, Anti Matter Rounds) would decimate him rather quickly. Another highlight is his pride, can often be used against him. A mixed trait is he often performs much better in combat with allies around, without them he is a much easier target. (then again it's common sense to beat up a guy without his friends running in)

[edit] The Inner Circle

[edit] Purifier Kieran

Malak and Kieran have known each other since the beginning of the war; whatever scars Malak has earned Kieran shares with him. Because of this there is almost nothing that he wouldn't do to watch out for Kieran. Of course they never actually openly state they watch out for the other person and insult each other most of the time. Also having a large angry Irish man guarding your back with a giant mace never hurt.

[edit] Dimitri Sylvan

In the time Malak has known him Dimitri has gone from unwitting test subject to one of the staunchest allies he has known, ever at his side or doing tasks for the Mandate. He views Dimitri as the prototype to the new human. Because of that, ensuring Dimitri does not fall into the hands of his enemies is always a top priority. Well that and trying to keep Dimitri away from copious amounts of his favorite drug

[edit] Doctor Anhalt

(Rewriting)

[edit] Dr Von Dread

For all intents and purposes Beecher and Malak should have tried to kill each other dozens of times by now. However, when the Mandate first came to the Isles, the Council offered to back them in their various encounters after all the majority of meta humans in the Isles have harmed the Council in one way or another and Malak was the perfect means in which to extract their vengeance. Over time Malak came to realize Dread's true nature but has yet to confront him about it. Malak will never admit it but Dread is an odd source of inspiration for him (“I want to be big and mean and rotting when I grow up!"). While yes he is a monster born of science and magic through all the years of his unnatural life he has managed to find a family and some degree of peace in the world, which inspires Malak more then he would like to admit.

[edit] The Gray Area

Needless to say running a group dedicated to wiping out all inhuman life in a world full of meta humans is and arduous task. In the course of making his beliefs known Malak has attracted more then his fair share of enemies some of which he is not so keen on battling anytime soon. Those of which he knows he will eventually have to face are in the gray.

[edit] Labal

Needless to say something claiming to be the "Ashen King of Lies" would attract Malak's attention and ever since he came to the Isles Malak has made his one goal in life to make this creature’s life much more difficult. Partaking in such activities as knocking over the demon’s favorite potted plants to stealing the creature’s aura and almost killing it in the process. However something is stopping Malak from putting Labal down for good. Some speak of an unlikely alliance, perhaps a bond fused from their constant fighting. In any case, Malak does, to an extent, watch out for his mortal enemy. Why? Most likely because he wants to be the only man to put this king of hell back were he came from. ((And I'm totally in love with you Labal))

[edit] Seba'eld

The first actual threat Malak met in the Isles was this twig-like, easily approachable alien, who just happened to be married to a soul eating demon king. He made it his goal to capture Seba and use her as bait for the king of hell and many a time the task failed and she was freed. However he never gave up the hunt, returning each time, much to Labal's dismay. Over the course of the months Malak finally attracted the attention of his true enemy. Having kidnapped Seba four or five times the two by now know each other very well, however since Malak no longer needs to harm Seba to get Labal's attention their conflict has almost dispersed going on without speaking or seeing each other for weeks on end.

[edit] Wraith Prime

Wraith Prime is one of the trifecta of leadership in the Ghost Hounds, a mercenary group that prides themselves in their cybernetics. This of course has made them an enemy of Malak and the Mandate over the controversial decision to replace their body parts with ones designed with harmful intent. Malak views this as trading away their humanity for power and is no better (in his mind) then trading away your soul.

Spoiler warning: Details about a player-created storyline, or information currently unrevealed about a character, follow.

Malak and Wraith, considering their different stances on the morality of cybernetics and mutations, should be attempting to kill each other on a daily basis. However, they came to agree on one thing: that magic is something that needs to be expelled. Because of this, Wraith actively sends Malak a hit list of high priority magical beings that the Hounds associate with. Malak makes it his prerogative to remove these threats as soon as they appear.

[edit] Enerix

Sworn to end one another's lives the two have gone from mortal enemies to lovers to something else in the batting of an eyelash, After their storm has gone through there isn't much left to salvage.
