His original name now lost to the mists of history, Sable was born in Galaxy city, raised by his single mother. Sable grew up in paragon, idolizing the heroes there, but left after completing high school to get his college degree. Returning home after living in Michigan for several years, Sable saw paragon city in a new light, as a crumbling and corrupt place patrolled by licensed vigilantes with the authority to kill in the line of duty. Disgusted, Sable went looking for answers, and eventually found them in the anarchic ideals of the Freakshow. Easily accepted due to his competence with machinery, Sable sent a final goodbye letter to his mother and subsumed his life utterly in the gang.

Sable would have been just another Mad Freak, a hoodlum with Excelsior and a shotgun, but for a fortuitous accident that allowed him posession of a "Dark Matter Generator", a specialized engine that used spacial rips to siphon strange, alien energies from another dimension. Modifying the generator into a cybernetic arm, Sable, who had long chafed under what he perceived as the poor leadership of Dreck, left the Freakshow and fled to the rogue isles. There, he slowly upgraded and improved the circuits and conduits surrounding the generator, improving it's power and his control over it. The energy produced by the arms is dangerous, an anathema of all things capable of surviving in this dimension, but Sable has seemingly tamed the denizens of that dimension, ripping holes in reality to allow them to slide their tentacles into our world, moving as he mentally directs to bind his foes. Sable took the moniker of "Sable Tentacle", and left his old name behind. He hasn't uttered it since, likely not even remembering it due to his hedonistic lifestyle.

Sable is an odd character, and his personality will vary wildly with what he's been doing, and what particular cocktail of drugs he is on at the moment. He swings from heavily driven, ranting about the corrupt nature of both Arachnos and Paragon City, to careless and lethargic, participating in Arachnos raids or aiding their troops on a whim. Sable will lapse into "Fr34ksp34k" when no-one is around or when excited, but will quickly revert to normal English if reminded. Sable is notoriously perverted, and attractive female targets will find that his tentacles will be doing more than immobilizing them, petting, groping and probing where decency forbids.

Sable is the proud owner of a pair of Dark Matter Generators, mysterious machines that create dark matter, used to tear open the walls of space and time. Installing the original into his arm, Sable has since acquired a second of the devices, replacing both arms with the strange cybernetic contraptions. Sable has acquired masterful control over the placements in the rifts, which he claims to control via force of will. Sable has demonstrated the ability to siphon energy from foes, create disruptive patches, and expose enemies to the mind bending alien geometries found in this strange world. Sable's namesake ability is still the ability to create cool, slick tendrils that rise to bind his enemies, most likely some alien creature from this other dimension that Sable has mentally dominated.

Sable still adheres to some Freakshow ideals, and the Excelsior pumping through him has given him the willingness to modify himself with cybernetics. Sable has fitted himself with a pair of piston-powered feet, and uses them to rocket himself through the air. Sable has grown fairly adept at controlling his leaps, but occasionally fires them in a panic and ends up smashed into a wall or a rafter.

Sable still is fitted with an Excelsior feeder, and is regularly on enough of a dose that he seems indefatigable, ignoring wounds and continuing to hurl handfuls of dark energy at his foes.
