Owain went through a couple of incarnations in the City of Villains Beta before I settled on a final concept for the Praetorian foil for Knightward. The original concept involved being a bloodthirsty spirit summoned back from the grave, but I liked this version better. For this one though, I unrepentantly took a lot of liberties with Praetorian Earth, largely because I can. So if the devs ever flesh it out further... well let's hope that day doesn't come.

Owain Venomdrinker is, in short, a ruthless and bloodthirsty monster. He has no remorse for his actions, infact he takes pleasure from the greater agony and destruction he inflicts. Owain's life ultimately revolves around his fulfillment of his bloodthirst. The only thing holding his violent urges in check is a cunning intellect sharpened over the centuries and his advanced age. Truth be told, while Owain hides behind a veneer of confidence, his old age has instilled a fear of the limitations that come with it. The fact that he probably only has a couple of decades before natural causes finish him off does not help matters either.

Owain is perhaps best known for his collection of poisons. He is a mutant, although his mutation does nothing by itself. Owain's metabolism processes most bio-toxins differently, often creating an exponential inverse effect. Toxins that paralyze or atrophy muscles instead strenghten his. Likewise, the reason for living to be almost 700 is due to various organic poisons he consumes regularly. Hence the name, Owain Venomdrinker.
Owain Venomdrinkeralso controls a personal army made up of an unknown number of cells in the Rogue Isles if not elsewhere. While he often keeps a squad with him, it is kept small so as to keep the full numbers secret. What is known is that there are enough to keep the troops with him replaceable. Many of them if not already career mercenaries, have defected from other paramilitary organizations such as the Council, Malta, and possibly even Arachnos. The troops are kept close and supplied via a small-scale teleporter Owain keeps with him. They are also kept loyal by an empath device Owain reversed-engineered after ripping apart one of Paragon's Heal-Bots. Each soldier is implanted with an empath chip, forcing them to endure Owain's damage should he choose. Thus obediance is assured through threat of death.

While old age has stripped Owain of much of his physical prowess he can compensate it in limited ways with his collection of poisons. While frail, he possesses regenerative qualities above that of a normal human, much less the elderly.

Owain Venomdrinker was a very skilled and dangerous warrior in his youth. While again, he lacks that strength now, he still has some nimbleness to protect himself in a fight. When he needs to travel great distances Owain drinks chemicals which would normally induce muscular atrophy. Thanks to his mutation, they briefly allow him to jump massive distances.

Owain's "patron" in Arachnos is Black Scorpion. As such he has limited access to his patron's armory. Preferring the visceral feel of hand to hand combat, Owain does not use his scorpion mace to fire at enemies, but merely subdue them. He also has a scorpion shield activated almost at all times.

Centuries of warfare have made Owain a tactical genius. You name a scenario, he's probably fought through it.

One of the things you learn in warfare is to avoid blindly charging into the enemy. Owain Venomdrinker keeps a cloaking device on him to both avoid a attack without a clear tactical advantage, and to keep some of the fire off him when in battle.
[edit] Weaknesses and Limitations
- Owain's physical age is that of approximately 80 years old. It takes tremendous force of will and daily consumption of bio-toxins to simply keep up with the younger villains of today.
- Despite having fallen into this trap numerous times in the past, Owain Venomdrinker can still be goaded into a blind fury and thus lead into a trap. Unfortunately past lessons have limited the circumstances that will do this. Only in situations or goals of critical importance to Owain will he let his emotions get the best of him.
- No one can live forever, and Owain knows his time is almost up. In spite of the bloodthirsty atrocities he has committed he is terrified of his own death. It has grown to an obsession: Owain will stop at nothing to find ways to stave off his own death.

- Bloodywedd - While their long-term goals may put them at odds with each other, Owain and the self titled Queen of Hearts have been of use to each other, often through plenty of destruction.
- First Victim - The two have a tenuous relationship. Victim's shifting motives and plans make Owain uneasy, as loose cannons tend to be troublesome.
