Nicole Brody/Brody's
From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe
Brody's is a small diner located in Kings Row, about three blocks from both the hospital and the police headquarters. Its owner is Martin Brody, a former member of the Paragon Police Department who is currently retired with full benefits. Martin lost a leg when he attempted to apprehend some Hellions and suffered severe burns. The decision was made to amputate his leg to save his life.
Brody's serves homemade soups, a different one every day of the week (Beef Stew Thursdays are quite popular), some cold-cut sandwiches (they also serve a cold meatloaf sandwich when Mrs. Brody feels like making that much meatloaf at home), and thanks to the new grill some hot foods like burgers or grilled cheese. They've recently expanded into making breakfasts as well, if you like scrambled eggs and bacon. They also have a standing order for baked goods with a bakery in Kings Row.
Mostly, Brody's serves coffee. A lot of coffee. No half-caf double-foam skinny whipped-cream concoctions here, just real coffee.
The diner is popular with cops, who like to support one of their own. Since it's not a bar, on-duty cops can stop by too for a cup of coffee and some sandwiches to take on patrol or on stake-out. A few heroes who knew Martin Brody from his cop days were known to stop by, but the hero traffic has increased significantly since Nicole Brody joined the Cerulean Legion.
The diner's hours are skewed toward the customer base; it used to be open from 9 at night 'til 8 in the morning. More recently, the Brody's have hired extra help and the diner is open 24 hours a day.
Martin Brody tends to either man the cash register or sit at the counter talking with the customers. Nadine Brody, his wife, makes most of the food. The three Brody children used to work at the diner as well, but all have jobs of their own now though they do sometimes stop by to help for a few hours. Most recently, the Brodys have hired a girl who's also a registered superhero, Gypsy Sword. She works as a waitress and manages to be there whenever the Brodys aren't there themselves.
