New Porter Institute for Psychical Research

The New Porter Institute for Psychical Research was a supergroup that existed from the end of the Second Rikti Invasion (at the end of City of Heroes beta) to mid-2005. The Institute was a school for teenage mutants that focused on teaching them how to use their powers ethically, and how to defend themselves and other mutants against alleged infringements of their rights. The Institute closed when its funding was withdrawn by its backers. Many of those left in the wake of the closure formed the Templars of the Abbey, while others split to seek employment with Samuel Dayne Industries.
The originally headmaster of the Institute was Galen McCormack. He was succeeded by Cassandra Nightshade, who eventually ceded the position to Adamilia Product-Brenning before the Institute's closure.
