Kira, who used to be spunky and far too aggressive, seems to have mellowed out a bit - though it goes a bit beyond 'mellowing out'. Her actions, voice, and expressions have become robotic, often unfeeling; the perfect portrait of apathy. In her eyes, to feel is to be hurt, and she's often mentioned that she 'doesn't need to', or that she's perhaps 'above that now'. Despite what she's said regarding feelings and attachment, she seems to slowly slide back into her old sarcastic and overconfident ways if something rubs her the wrong or right way enough.

There's also the side of Kira that we see even more rarely - the side who genuinely cares for others and their well-being. Kira is seldom a kind person, but upon some occasions, she's been seen exhibiting philanthropic behavior, sometimes even saving the life of another human being, something rare for a citizen of the Rogue Isles; even rarer for someone who seems to actually enjoy seeing other beings in pain and bleeding. There may be a method to her sudden face-heel and vice-versa turns, but if there is, nobody has discovered it yet, and it's very likely not even she knows.

The less that is said regarding her psyche, the better. Kira is a product of being the target of humanity's deepest, darkest cruelties, the thing that psychologists sit back and think about hypothetically - "How bad would a person who suffered all of this be?" - and then quickly dismiss due to the low chance of so much happening to one person ... and the thought of how terribly shattered their mind would be. Kira is the exception. In childhood, she became trapped briefly in a town that can only be described as 'hell on earth', where the only few survivors had gone mad due to the monsters and would often kill eachother to survive. Being a child, she was also subject to any cruel whims they came up with; and stated a few times that she vividly remembers being dismembered and left to die. Though she had limbs when she was in Atlas, so this seems a bit unlikely.

Her first death at the hands of Bad Dream was traumatic - she was brutally beaten and mutilated without the ability to fight back before he placed the gun in her mouth and finally pulled the trigger. That should have been the end of it. When she was returned to life, she remembered quite clearly what had happened, and resorted to alcohol to drown the unpleasant memories, causing more of a strain when her friend Kadavar abandoned her in frustration. In addition to him, Krasivyi Petrova, a good friend, had also disappeared, something that would happen frequently to her friends and lovers - at least, those who did not cheat on her.

Kira became afraid of attachment- not only because she feared the pain of being abandoned, but also of being the woman who wasn't good enough - and she learned very quickly that when others decided that they wanted to torture someone, she would often be it; and hoped that by distancing herself from others, they could not shatter her trust in that manner. Unfortunately, she was wrong.

She has now endured countless deaths and tortures, brought back to life by the Phoenix System with the memories of not only what she just went through, but the afterlife as well. She is not as shaken as a normal person might be, at least not on the outside, but there is something wrong with her that will never be right again.

Now let's break it down for all of you who don't understand any of it. PROS: She's got a maternal instinct and will care after the wounded on occasion, she's rumored to have a softer side, she's childish and maybe, to some degree, naive, she's willing to save anyone who'd do the same for her or who she deems does not deserve to die. CONS: She's insane. Anything said or done at any given moment can set her off, and when she is 'set off', she can't 'un-detonate', so to speak. She's sadistic and cruel and driven by the desire to see anyone who's incurred her wrath bleed and writhe and cry for mercy, and will do anything to get the reaction, and the blood, she craves. She's also absolutely unpredictable in this manner, making her a constant risk - a timebomb ticking away the seconds patiently, ready to explode at any point in time without warning.

Disclaimer: I haven't stated everything here. There are finer points - and some serious parts of her psychology - I haven't even started to touch down on, as they are spoilers or highly difficult to notice in character. If you want to find those out, sorry, but you'll need to RP with her.

You know we don't seem to know much about Kira's past. Maybe I'm not paying enough attention, but part of me wonders where she actually CAME from. Test tube baby? Science experiment? Normal kid who was just dealt the wrong cards in life? Who knows, but I'd be interested in finding out. - The Red
