Kai is @Kai's alterego/online self reflected into the CoHverse, a hacker of reality with a penchant for sarcasm, wit, and chaos.

[edit] Personality
Kai has a sharp wit and enjoys bringing it to bear on both the belligerent and stupid, and using it to tease the intelligent with hints of what she knows and can do, but never outright revealing anything. Very nonchalant about most everything, her signature smirk and use of the phrase 'Sore wa himistu desu' often aggravates people, though the smarter ones have learned how to play the game of her making them think and learn to get from her what she's willing to give. She's a hero only by virtue of wanting to follow some native programs(people) with potential.
[edit] History
Outside of the Virtue shard of the CoH multiverse, known to her as Zero Prime 29, Kai is a rogue hacker. Evading the eyes of Ouroboros, she and her band of hackers aim to cause havoc inside the Virtual World System in order to shake the real world out of its stagnation of relying on years of VWS simulation for every decision. Inside the Virtue shard, she is simply there when she wants to be, and its a simple matter to tweak the data to make no one question it.
[edit] 2+2=5
Kai was here originally to try and crash the system because crashing a Zero Prime system, the systems closest in conditions to the real world, had never been done. A series of suspicious things however led her to believe there was tampering going on at the sysop level, which, if she could prove, would mean scoring carte blanche forgiveness of past transgressions and effective protection against future prosecution. It started with the regressive slipstream program PsychoChronoMetron that was involved with the Faultline incident, a highly advanced routine that allowed programs/people to merge branches of past time in the multiverse together, 'altering the past' in the eyes of the programs/people. Having tools such as that was several levels above the operating conditions of the server. Further evidence was provided by the dice handed to her by Gamer's Widow, in her eyes dangerous malevolent things, in Kai's eyes, a very very advanced bit of code that should never have been in the system. The evidence of a artificially created parallel branch to the one she is following (Virtue continuum) cemented her theory. (see Conspiracy and Coincidence). With the appearance of Mender Silos's Ouroboros, Kai decided to call the lead operator for the system on the various bits of tampering. While she still may turn him over, for the moment Kai is having fun extorting things out of him.
[edit] The Blackbox
A construct of data, The Blackbox has appeared spontaneously in many systems. Kai has chased it obsessively, despite the fact that conflict with it disrupts her connection and often dumps her from the system with real world headaches. Recently it appeared in Zero Prime 29 and offered limited information in exchange for Kai's assistance in translating its data streams into something more manageable for programs. This has lead to Kai having a nominal job as a DJ with The Cape Radio, although no one's really quite sure who hired her and why.
[edit] Metaphysics of Powers
At its most simple, Kai has 'powers' because she can do anything she wants having hacked the server Zero Prime 29, which is where the CoH multiverse lies. The server itself has parameters that are considered normal and will flag things that exceed it without an authorization code from an operator for the system however. Any changing of code leaves her signature, and the bigger the change, the better chance for the system operators under the lead to find her and catch her. Therefore she limits herself to low-profile only tweaks to stay hidden, de-syncing reality in very localized places(stealth pool), removing mobility from targets by gravity alterations, and tweaking ally and enemy parameters to the maximums and minimums allowable for the system without tripping alarms(kinetics).
When she feels like flying, she materializes black feathered wings for appearances sake, and has been known to materialize a pair of chrome berettas or black handled kodachi if she feels it necessary, both of which operate mostly like normal.
[edit] Physical and Outfits
While she can choose to look like anything she wants, Kai almost always is seen the same or with slight variation. On the rare occasions she appears as something or someone else, she still always has her signature yellow glasses.
[edit] Main
Nominally she appears in black leather straight cut pants, or blue skin tight ones with metal bands, a crop tank or short sleeve shirt in blue, reading 'r00t = g0d', black padded fingerless gloves, cross belts slung at her hips, sharp green eyes and serrated short hair. She'll have black feathered wings of varying size seemingly at random.
[edit] Heavy Combat
A black armor-like outfit she has occasionally worn, blue glowing line and nodes lay just under the surface, and her wings seem to be metallic coated
[edit] Thread
Sometimes she just is too busy to concentrate on Z-P29, and splits her processes in the VWS. For whatever reason she still can't figure out, something about Z-P29 takes the reduction in data as a size constraint and she appears as a mini version of herself, but the clothes and hair stay proportional to her normal form.
[edit] Contacts
Gamer's Widow - A hero caught up in something much bigger than she knew with a pair of dice who has the potential to learn to manipulate reality and make the jump to the real world.
Jericho Stone - Another prospect, one who can see the local branches of the multiverse and possibly be trained to make the jump
