The engines of the Feldar represent the true strength of the race. These machines have come to reflect the ability to construct a unit that is adapted for specialized functions. Through the use of the containment units, the mechanized race has often proved a rival for other mechanical equipment in that the 'human' factor of thought—creativity and insight—are often utilized to their fullest potential.

[edit] Appearances

The appearance of an engine is often cosmetic. It does not impact the overall function of the machine that is utilized. However, among the hosts, these features are often determined via the culture of the faction involved.

[edit] Feldar Imperial Order

Engines employed on the side of the Imperial Order often reflect a mechanical feature to reflect the Order's abandonment of their biological pasts. These machines are often designed of a sleek black metal that are personalized to the tastes of their user. In the past, it was considered bad form to design an engine that emulated the features of a mortal or biological life form. Overall, the units have a bipedal, or humanoid quality due to their inherant design.

[edit] Unified Armies

Unlike its individualist rivals, the personality of the Unified Armies is reflected in the uniform appearance of its engines. Their engines are standardized machines that reflect the same appearance from unit to unit. Dull steel gray reflect the same exterior in each cog within the overall social machine. These engines echo the same bipedal design that is basic to all Feldar engines, but the similarity to a biological life form ends there with little effort made to hide the mechanical outlook held by the person chipped units.

[edit] Azure Cabal Alliance

The Cabal reflect the other extreme of the hosts. Its views on the preservation of life and the freedom of choice shows in the variety of appearances. Representing various groups and ideals, the engines often have come to reflect the appearance of humanoid races. Science and technology have gone far in developing out human appearances through skin and body functions such as eating and breathing.

[edit] Weaknesses

The one weakness of the engines that the Imperial Order and the Cabal have tried to overcome is the inability to duplicate the sense of touch. The sense has only been replicated on a limited level via sensors that rely information. But, this sensory system is limited to simply identification of an item—not the actual sensation. It is this aspect that has been known to drive new Feldar into insanity with the loss of the ability to feel their environment. Feldar often describe their existence as cold or shallow due to the loss of these sensations.
