[edit] Background and Origin

Air Force Lt. James Anderson is believed to have died along with the rest of the crew of the experimental shuttle Phoenix. This shuttle was outfitted with a highly experimental and advanced engine that would allow it to travel at incredible speeds and keep its crew shielded from the sun's radiation. The Phoenix arrived at our sun to begin studying solar phenomena, but something went wrong.

A solar flare lanced out and engulfed the Phoenix, overheating the engine and causing it to explode. Lt. Anderson was caught in the explosion, bathed in radiation, and then hurled into space, where he was surrounded by the solar flare itself. However, instead of dying like the rest of the crew, the two types of radiation completely altered his body; in effect changing him into a living nuclear furnace.

He found that he could survive in space, fly at incredible speeds, and generate localized gravitic fields that act as a skin tight invulnerable shield and can be wrapped around his fists, giving him effective super strength.

And thus was Helios born.
