The Unholy Wicked Great Lie, or, as he prefers to be called, Trinn, is a creature of capricious lust and desire. He relies almost entirely on his charm, which works until he's upset and the charm slips to reveal an angry, spoiled child.

[edit] Playing with Magic

Stephen Lucian Blair was the bored son of a wealthy Welsh family. While attending boarding school in Amsterdam, he and his group of wannabe goth friends got into black magic. At first, it was mostly harmless, but they slowly found more authentic and dangerous spells.

After a few failed attempts, they finally managed to summon a succubus. What they expected was some wicked fun. What they got was murder, mayhem, and insanity that answered to the name Mara. By the end of the ordeal, Stephen Blair was the only one left standing.

[edit] Mara

Mara was actually a sliver of a greater being called Celano. Celano, almost a goddess, is the personified form of creation and desire. She is a child of the Darkness that's born from the minds of men.

She longs to enter the world, but cannot as long the world remains the way it is. She used the seed of thirteen men to create a male succubus who would, by his actions, help break down the barriers of this reality and allow her to enter.

[edit] Born in Violence

Celano's plan worked and her son was born. However, he was trapped in the Void, stuck in a state of half-being. Half-way between existence and nothing. While the demon side was perfectly at home in this situation, his human side longed to get out and be with other people.

It took an act of depraved desire to give him the opening he needed to get through to this world. Even Trinn isn't entirely sure what happened. He found himself in a warehouse full of dead Hellions and covered in blood.

[edit] And Then

Though Trinn came into the world knowing nothing about it, his psionic abilities helped him to pick up on things quickly. His knowledge of English is almost entirely empathic and his definitions of words depend largely on how those around him define them. The same can be said for his moral compass. Things are only as wrong or right as those close to him believe them to be.

He was quickly found by Grandfather Bones who took him in as his "ward". Bones welcomed Trinn into the Temple of the Fang because he knew Trinn's destiny, as the child of man and Darkness, would be to bridge the gap.

Trinn, however, has other plans.

Since then, Trinn's many encounters with humans has caused a rift between him and Bones. Their relationship, once playful, has become strained and tainted with distrust. It's only through fear and twisted promises that they remain close.

After an encounter in Pocket D with a certain Artemis Nyx, Trinn found his moral compass suddenly flipped. She, at first, cut off his tongue after he licked her. Later, she met up with him in Mercy Island. She said she'd come to kill him, but he knew she was lying. After a scuffle, they had sex of questionable consent. She insisted that she'd thought he was better than that before leaving in tears. Trinn, for the first time, felt an emotion that was all his-- guilt.

She became pregnant. When she told Trinn, he laughed, finding in her thoughts an image of him raising the child with her. He didn't tell anyone, but this gave him his second emotion; hope. At Bones' behest, Trinn made a half-hearted assassination attempt on her, and then told her to disappear. He hasn't seen her since, but her blind faith and trust in him killed most of his belief in Bones' plan for The End of All Things.

He stays with Schwarze partly because it's familiar and partly because he fears the Void. He doesn't want to return to it and he hopes that maybe The End will make it a little more bearable.

[edit] Personality

Being what he is, Trinn is ruled by his emotions almost entirely. His mood changes quickly, but not without warning. He is wildly territorial and protective of anything that he considers to be his. However, if that thing is ever defiled or dirtied, he will begrudgingly give it up and claim that he never wanted it to begin with.

Though love and desire often go hand in hand, they are not the same thing. It's been said that Trinn, due to his nature, is incapable of love. He's felt it vicariously through other people and has developed a sort of Romeo complex, ready and willing to fall in love with anyone. It helps that he can, and will, feed off what the other person is feeling, fully taking on the role of someone in love.

And speaking of feeding off the emotions of others, he instinctively knows the desires of those around him and will change himself to match those desires. Finding out what Trinn himself truly wants is a very complicated task-- one that has yet to be successful.

When angry or upset, Trinn has a tendency to act like a child, throwing a tantrum, stomping his feet, pouting, the whole nine yards. Getting him to stop is exactly like trying to get a kindergartener to eat vegetables.

Trinn chose the name "Great Lie" because he felt it was ironic. His telepathy gave him insight to the minds of full-blooded humans and he was surprised at how often they lied. He claims that he himself never lies, and, while partly true, he does occasionally give misinformation and allow people to believe incorrect things.

[edit] Weaknesses

Pastries. Trinn loves them. Everything about them. He loves saying the word, he loves bakeries, he loves the cream, the powdered sugar, the flaky crusts. EVERYTHING.

Beyond that, and by far the more severe weakness, is the desire. Being only half-human, he doesn't enjoy the same amount of free will that humans do. He cannot physically do anything to a person that they don't want done. But if even just a little part of them wants it, and he will use his mind control to make it so, he's free to act.

[edit] OOC Notes

I am aware that in most mythologies, the male version of a succubus in an incubus. However, while an Incubus takes what he wants-- forcing a person to sin, a succubus offers herself-- enticing a person to sin. Trinn is an offerer, not a taker.
