Fearghas

Fearghas was originally created to see what it would be like to spin a classic hero formula into a, "mild-mannered man by day, super powered villain by night." From there's he greatly evolved into who he is today.

[edit] Personality

Fearghas' personality for the most part is fairly laid back. If he's around the D he'll be easy-going and joking around. As well he puts off an air of well, not really being too intelligent or smart. Because of this most people that encounter him underestimate his abilities or fail to take him seriously. This's something that Fearghas does on purpose, for the most part; on many occassions he has successfully won a battle or completed a job due to the fact that he wasn't taken seriously enough and his opponents were not properly prepared for his true strength. Although he has been on the receiving end of a beating a few times due to the fact that he himself didn't, as he said, "put his heart into the job".

One of the few ways for anyone to anger Fearghas would be to insult his amazing hair (it's amazing) or to do something against his fiancee, Caterina Fiducia. These are two sure fire ways to get him riled up, though it should be noted that despite his laid back attitude, he was born and raised in Port Oakes, and isn't a push-over, even without his techno-gloves on.

[edit] Amazing Hair

As noted a few times, Fearghas' hair is objectively really really good. He spends a good amount of time each morning combing it and fixing it up to be exactly how he wants it to be. It's never half-assed, it never smells bad, and it never, ever, unless caused by someone else, looks bad. Any and all attempts by other people to insult his hair, spot out a grey hair, say a strand is loose, or otherwise point out something Fearghas missed are scoffed by him and shown to be false. His hair is one of the few things he has complete domain over and will -never- be wrong on. Everything else maybe he'll concede to being wrong, but his hair is the one thing he knows like the back of his hand.

[edit] Those Weren't The Days

The Early Fearghas.
The Early Fearghas.

Fearghas, when he first began his job, kept his true identity as James Nelson a complete secret in fear of losing his job at Port Oakes High. He even created an entirely different persona in Fearghas, who was extremely efficient and heartless. He had an excellent reputation of never questioning anything his contacts asked of him, no matter how horrible the job was, as long as the pay was sufficient.

This continued until the Council held Port Oakes high hostage at a battle of the bands. Fearghas' true identity of James Nelson was revealed when he stormed into the auditorium to defeat the head of the Council's group. Despite nearly dying and being cheered on by the entire auditorium, James was fired the next day in order to avoid any controversy from the parents of all the children.

Since he no longer needed to keep up the charade of a dual personality, Fearghas slowly began to refer to himself as both Fearghas and James Nelson, but not without the help of his new friend Kichi though. When Fearghas was James, he would frequently tell people his job was a simply proof reader, still wanting to maintain some anonimity incase he would be called for a job against one of his friends. Kichi was one of the first people to discover his true occupation and convince him to be truthful to himself and others about what he did and who he was.

Fearghas still maintained some amount of ruthlessness on his jobs, as he was still struggling to get himself out of his debt. This changed when he was approached my a man named Sire and offered a position in the group called the Dark Dominion, earning it through his reputation as a reliable mercenary and able to get the job done. Fearghas gladly accepted, and found himself living the good life, at least in terms of money. He was finally able to move out of his poor apartment in Port Oakes and into the large penthouse in Aeon City that Sire had purchased for him. Life was good, but Fearghas was still lonely, and the large penthouse only reminded him of that loneliness. No one really could tell he was feeling downtroddened though, as he always kept pleasant company when he was out in the D or on a job. But since he didn't need to teach anymore, he drank often and in large amounts every night, starting in the D and finishing off in his penthouse. Fearghas was indeed living the good life, but he still wanted something more out of it.

[edit] Rogue Love

James and Caterina together.
James and Caterina together.

One day while in Mercy, Fearghas ran into the woman known as Caterina Fiducia (Whispering Onyx), who was in the Isles to see her sick father. Fearghas, having taken some Italian classes in high school and college, decided to help the woman who spoke little English. He let her stay in his penthouse while she visited her father everyday, and frequently accompanied her. Caterina's up-beat attitude and cheerful view on life helped to improve Fearghas' own outlook. Slowly, he began to wake up each day feeling in a better mood, which was also helped by the fact that he ate very well each day, thanks to Caterina. Eventually, the two grew to care about each other, coming to a peak when James suggested to Caterina that she stay in the Isles with him after everything with her father was settled.

The two began to go out, and as they did so more secrets began to come out. Caterina's father was the head of the Fiducia family, and upon his death, Caterina would be forced to be the head of the family, as her brother Leo was presumed dead. James promised to help Caterina in this ordeal, and luckily, after her father's death, James located her brother Leo, who had assumed the name Brickbreaker in Paragon City. Leo came to back to the Isles to head the Fiducia Mafia, allowing his sister Caterina some respite from the job.

A few month ago, after numerous ordeals that the two have been through, James proposed to Caterina on the spot that they both met in Mercy Island. Caterina accepted, though the two are relaxing now, not seeming to be in a rush to get married, and instead are enjoying their status as being engaged with each other.

[edit] You're a Cruel One, Dr. Regin

Fearghas' Luck.
Fearghas' Luck.

As things began to pick up with Caterina, someone sought to stop it. The man that James' former wife, Laura Nelson, worked for: Dr. Regin. He sent numerous experiments of his to try to assassinate Caterina while she was out on her own. However, Dr. Regin underestimated the woman's abilities, as she valiantly fought back with her control over plants and water against each and every attacker, figuring out more about Regin's plan. James and Caterina eventually discovered it was Dr. Regin sending these experiments after a clue given by one of her attackers, leading to an old video-tape that James, Henry, and Laura took.

James and Caterina started their investigation into Dr. Regin, and found a startling revelation. Laura's death was no accident. The program that she worked for under Dr. Regin was merely a guise for developing a chemical weapon, which would not take affect until months after putting in place, and would, they hoped, have no cure. Laura, along with four other scientists, were used as test subjects, personally picked out by Dr. Regin himself. While the illness was not cured for Laura, the amount of time between implantation and death had too wide of a variable, and so the project was terminated.

After more investigating, they learned of where Dr. Regin's lab was and sought to get him to stop once and for all. In their assualt on the lab, James and Caterina found numerous disturbing experiments; one was a nearly complete clone of Henry Nelson, the other a half completed clone of James. And when they found Dr. Regin, he was standing in a tube containing a completed clone of James' former wife, Laura. Dr. Regin, knowing James sought revenge against him, offered him a deal, which was that he would give James back his ex-wife in the form of this clone, if he would let Regin walk away. When James refused, Regin became infuriated, and James demanded to know why he had Laura killed. Regin angerly exclaimed his hatred for James. Dr. Regin had grown to love Laura during their time together, but was utterly put down by Laura and further angered by the sight of James with Laura. He began to hate James for being able to have the one thing that he wanted most, and decided that he would make James' life miserable by taking it away. And so now too, Regin explained, he would take away Caterina and leave James alone again. Dr. Regin himself would go on to live a happy life with his clone of Laura, and watch with amusement as his clone of James and Henry went out into the world to ruin their reputation.

James was angered nearly beyond all reason and charged after Dr. Regin, who activated his own electro-suit and tried to attack Caterina, who once more showed her prowress by fighting back. The three fought for quite some time before Dr. Regin's suit stopped functioning after all of the beatings. James went to deliver the final blow, but was stopped by a tearful Caterina, who pleaded with James not to become a monster like Dr. Regin was, and begged him to stop the killing once and for all. James tottered along a dangerous line at that moment, but the sight of Caterina torn by the image of who he was caused James to choose the better path. Dr. Regin laughed, but it would be Caterina who had the final say, as she covered Regin in a block of ice, creating an icey coffin for him to be trapped in for all eternity.

Since that day, James and Caterina have never returned to that cursed laboratory. James was finally able to move on from his past involving his wife and brother, their death's finally put at rest. Now he could look forward to the future that he had with Caterina, his friends, and life as a mercenary who was a professional in punching people in the face.

Of course though, life is never -that- easy.

[edit] You're Gonna Carry That Weight

Fearghas.
Fearghas.

James ran into a small snafu in Mercy island one day, when he was asked to meet someone there for a job. When he arrived on the beach, he was ambushed by four mercenaries, who beat him near death and warned him to stay out of the mercenary business and to instead go back to being a teacher. Caterina arrived after a distress call by James and took him to the hospital. The doctor's said James would be fine, however he would not be able to use his gloves for a week. Still, James was intent on hunting down each of those mercenaries to find out who hired them and why, despite the fact that he was breaking his own code. James and Caterina did so, with the help of Caterina's pet giant fly-trap, Audrey, and pieced together the clues given to them by each mercenary to find their contact.

When the couple and their flytrap encountered the man who hired the mercenaries, they discovered he was merely following the orders given to him by a man who had no name, but possessed a lot of money. The contact had received a letter in the mail filled with 100 grand, and promised another 400 if Fearghas' job as a mercenary was officially put to an end, but oddly the request stated for him to live. There was no leads onto who this man could be, and no possible clues, and so James and Caterina decided to leave it at a rest, hoping that perhaps whoever wanted James to stop his job as a mercenary realized it was a bad idea.

Audrey remained happy afterwards, as James was quite eager to play "toss the soda can" with him.

[edit] Fearghas B Goode

Fearghas and Kichi.
Fearghas and Kichi.

As of late, Kichi and Fearghas have begun to garner a reputation of being an extremely powerful duo, especially after the two defeated the heads of the Council to the amusement of the Center. People have commented that despite both of them having completely different personalities and nationalities, they refer to themselves as brother and sister. As well, they seem to make an excellent team; Kichi seems to thrive on anything fire, and Fearghas is able to produce various bursts of fire from his techno-gloves to help her, should her body temperature begin to drop from one of her enemies. What jobs the future holds for the two is unknown, but each and every job that they've both worked together on have been completed flawlessly...even if Kichi has rolled her eyes or slapped Fearghas in the back of the head for his various jokes and zoning out.

[edit] Viva La Revolution

James Nelson relaxing in Port Oakes.
James Nelson relaxing in Port Oakes.

As of late, James Nelson has been trying to start a movement in Port Oakes to fight against the mafioso and the gangs there. He calls his group, "The Untouchables of Port Oakes", being inspired by the movie, The Untouchables. James has decided not to use his techno-gloves, and instead relies on regular weapons, a shovel, a wrench, and a baseball bat, to fight against the criminals. His goal is to show the people of Port Oakes that it's possible to make a stand without having super powers. Though his movement is small, consisting of only 3 other close friends, it is making large headway. The people of Port Oakes are becoming more confident against criminals, the mafia's influence slowly beginning to lower. But there's only so much that the criminals will take before they take some sort of dramatic action against James...

The following are James' closest "confidants" within the Untouchables.

George Harrison - James' closest friend, the two have known each other since they started teaching at Port Oakes High seven years ago. They've maintained a close friendsip despite the fact that James no longer teaches there. George was one of the first to join the Untouchables of Port Oakes.

Giacomo Montagne - A convenient store owner in Port Oakes. Giacomo Montagne has been a hitman in several groups across Europe. He fled to the Rogue Isles seeking to make a new name for himself, not as a hitman, but just as a normal, everyday store owner. When his store was threatened by the Marcones, James stepped in and showed them a lesson, then offered Giacomo a role in the group. Giacomo decided that he would help, hoping to redeem his past actions with the mafia.

Phil Cardone - A former member of the RIP, Phil was fired for doing "too good" of a job. He pursued criminals, followed the proper law to a tee, and did not harass anyone who didn't deserve it. James found Phil drinking his problems away in one of Port Oakes' local bars one night. The two had a long conversation, Phil complaining to James about his problems, James telling Phil about the group. In the end, Phil decided to tag along, thinking that he could pursue the justice he was looking for in the RIP with James' group.

Seiken - That's an entirely different story.

[edit] The Magic Sword

Luficia and her sword, Seiken.
Luficia and her sword, Seiken.

One day in Pocket D, James stumbled upon Seer Malak. Well, more so, James was having a Sam Adams and sensed someone being amazed at his (amazing) hair, that person being Seer Malak. The two talked, and James quickly noticed that for some reason, Malak had possession of Seiken. After some convincing/haggling, James managed to obtain Seiken from Malak, suggesting that he knew Luficia very well and would hold on to the sword until she came back. James doesn't know fully why Malak parted with the sword, but he was happy to be able to hold onto it, though, much to his (and Malak's) surprise, Seiken still speaks. When asked why Seiken never spoke with Malak, the sword merely replied that Malak didn't seem too sociable, and that James had much better hair. Everyone agreed on all those points.

James now holds on to Seiken, waiting for Luficia to return from wherever she is to give it back to her. Though Seiken has decided to support James in his efforts to fight against crime in Port Oakes. Support in terms of moral, as James is under the idea that no one besides Luficia should wield Seiken. This isn't from anything Seiken told James (and is just the opposite, as Seiken will many times call James a wimp for not trying to wield a sword like a real man) but rather just James' own odd belief.
