EnGen-X started out as a Tech Origin Energy/Energy Blaster until I simply got tired of running around looking like Mega Man. So I had the powersuit explode in tragic fashion. Now he is a little more interesting. Roleplaying wise, he's a essentially me shooting energy bolts and running really fast. How droll.

Living in a city of heroes is difficult when you have no powers. A high school in such a city is even more difficult. John Park always felt left out when the popular kids could lift buses over their heads, manipulate the weather and shoot fire from their hands. John was your average Joe the heroes would always have to save. He never got used to it, always feeling the need he had to be out there fighting evil. He never actually carried out these plans until he had to impress a girl, one Laura Harris. Of course, that's how all good stories start.

In such a city, you can pretty much get anything you want with the right contacts. John was able to get a kit off the internet with all the parts and instructions needed to build a powersuit. One that could manipulate energy and blast it at foes. It also offered the promise of a "flight drive." John scraped up enough money from working shifts at "Paragon Video."(Which may or may not be owned by a larger corporation...)

Lacking any technical knowledge made it difficult to build the suit, but through trial and error he managed to get it working. The long flight from Steel Canyon would have been easier if the flight drive didn't fail twice, but he arrived and he proclaimed to the registrar he was EnGen-X. A signature and 20 dollars later, EnGen-X was the 1,555th hero in Paragon to operate a powersuit.

However, after a string of victories against the thugs of Paragon(most notability Frostfire of the Outcasts) his suit was damaged in a scuffle with the Circle of Thorns. Once the Medicom patch kicked in, the doctors (and several technicians) had to pry him out of it. He was sent home with a couple stitches, some Advil and a box of mangled parts.

In a rush to get back in the field, he plugged a still damaged power unit into a household plug. The entire unit exploded in titanic fashion, leaving John lying on his front lawn with serve injuries.

The doctors did all they could for John. However, most of his face structure had to be rebuilt. The only telltale sign of that operation is the Impervium plate and the realistic looking right eye.

John returned to school a year later. He had to repeat the 11th grade, but this was made easier the fact that Laura was in all his classes. The two bonded over long talks about movies and Harry Potter books.

While cramming for a math exam (John's least favourite subject) he had a bit too much coffee(Ok, a full pot and a Redbull) and shot off an energy blast in his living room.

John was pleased...his parents weren't.

He reactivated his hero status as EnGen-X and took to the streets again, this time stronger and wiser than before. Turning to McQueen Archery's sister company, Castle Defense Corp., John outfitted himself with the latest in defense technology including an assortment of grenades (including the caltrop packet grenade), a stealth belt and a targeting drone he has affectionately nicknamed "Bruce." The drone uplinks nicely to his artificial eye allowing for improved hand eye coordination.

It should be noted, his powers are not derived purely from caffeine consumption, but it will increase his energy output and his top running speed. He has been known to carry a Redbull on his belt for "emergency purposes."

The explosion left John with the ability to produce and control energy within his body. Most of the time he projects offensive bolts from his arms. The energy blasts are concussive in nature. Heat and light simply natural byproducts of the energy production.

Recently he has discovered the ability manipulate his so called "internal energy" in order to move at super speeds. The highest clocked speed was just over 400 MPH.

[edit] Weaknesses

He does have a psychological dependence on caffeine. Without that first cup in the morning, good luck dealing with him.

It has been observe that the consumption of alcohol limits his powers. This could be due to the fact his body has developed an adverse reaction to alcohol or he's just a lightweight.

Prone to depressive funks every now and again. Despite being able to move at superhuman speeds, one of his main weaknesses is the fact he is still quite clumsy. John has been known to trip and skid several miles on his face plate until he comes to a complete stop.

Extensive movie knowledge, expert tinkerer(mostly trial and error), higher than normal ability with computers(due his artificial eye uplink system) Mydnight. has recently been training him in military demolition...reasons for his training are unknown.

For Halloween 07 he planned to go as Dead Eye Jake to match Laura's Crimson Cutlass costume. However, with Laura's recent run in with members of the Dread Aces, he's rethinking the idea...

For 2008, Both Laura and John have decided to dress up likes heroes(to avoid death threats from the villains). Laura decided on Foxy Ferret and John was going for Ascendant. Instead of being cliche, Laura talked John into dressing up as Red Havok. He still doesn't understand why the Havok Brother that is mostly blue, is called "Red" Havok....

• Recently, John had his right bionic eye upgraded to include a new holographic user interface(HGUI) as well as swapping out his old "wireless" link for the more commonly used bluetooth. Take that Iphone!

And to think, it's all done with dryer tube and gold foil...
