A collaborative project between ScottCorp and Springfield Labs, Emphasis was originally created to assist Dr. Springfield in some high-voltage experiments in order to find a new source of energy for the planet.

She was designed to look human and can interact with people. She can respond to people touching her. She has flexible silicone for skin rather than hard plastic, and a number of sensors and motors to allow her to turn and react in a human-like manner. She can flutter her eyelids and move her hands like a human. She even appears to breathe.

Emphasis is not like any robot you will have seen before, at least outside of science-fiction movies.

Early tests showed however, that this android was special. She quickly adapted to the mannerisms of the humans around her, and her ability to absorb electrical energy was astounding. Doctor Dale Springfield of Springfield Labs thought to himself, "If she can absorb electricity so well, how can she handle releasing such massive amounts of energy?" Field testing was set to start immediately in a section of Paragon City known as Outbreak.

These tests ran amazing well, and Dr. Springfield immediately applied for hero registration for Emphasis. Hero registration was granted on January 22, 2007, and her first call of duty is to take place on January 27, 2007.

Update - 05-February-2007: We've learned that Emphasis is commonly running with a group of electrical blasters and defenders. This group rose together from a threat rating of 0% to 54% in ONE Day. There is rumor that Emphasis and her squad have taken out Babbage, twice.
