A "Blapper" is a Blaster that uses a mixed melee/ranged fighting style, utilizing high-damage, high-secondary-effect attacks (usually from the Blaster secondary powerset) to overwhelm their opponent quickly. Blappers can sometimes out-damage Scrappers because of the high burst damage potential (especially with Defiance factored into the equation) but being a Blapper is also very risky; unlike true melee archetypes, Blappers have no defenses to speak of, and tend to go down fast if they catch aggro.
