[edit] The Avatar
[edit] Physical Description
Terak is a specimen of physical perfection. Following examples of the great Asian masters, Terak follows a strict diet of noodles, rice, meats, and grains. He only drinks tea and water, as well, in order to not flood the body with poisons or debilitating chemicals. His exercise is very disciplined and extreme, consisting of running, weightlifting, acrobatics, yoga, terrain-training, wall climbing, sword practice, martial arts training, and many military drills. He never does the same group of exercises twice in a row, keeping his body guessing, so to speak. The extreme nature of his conditioning has forged a literal human weapon. His exercise and diet keep his senses and mind razor sharp, while maintaining a strong immune system. He is at peak human potential, as far as physical aspects go. He can lift and throw his own body weight with little effort. He is in complete control of his body, able to slow his heartbeat and respiration with only will. He is also able to slow bleeding and the spread of poisons through immense concentration.
Under his suit, Terak, while muscular and toned, is scarred and burned. He can pass casually through public, but his collection of scars and blemishes is still worthy of attention. Almost all of them are battle scars, on the torso, legs, and arms. But the most obvious of them is the one across his right eye, a sword scar he suffered when battling a Yakuza crime lord. Terak views his scars as trophies, representing that which has not killed him, and therefore that which has made him stronger.Terak is an adult Caucasian male with blue eyes, and is almost always cleanly shaved, with a shaved head. He suffers from no illness, allergies, or disabilities. His blood type is O Negative.
[edit] Mental and Psychological Description
Terak is not by any means a genius or a prodigy, but he does possess a very sound and willful mind. Through various conditioning techniques, Terak's mind is a well forged processor. He is cold, calculating, and reasoning. He is cunning, ruthless, and merciless. Terak is a genius in the way of hunting and killing. He is well able to outsmart most opponents in a game of hide-and-seek, and can quickly turn the tables of a chase or ambush. His mind is quick, unyielding, and action-oriented. The perfect mind for a killer. He is without affliction, able to reason in almost any given situation, and is well in control of his emotions, a requisite and perk to being in virtually complete control of his body.
Terak is well read in history, geography, biology, philosophy, psychology, economics, technology, and sociology.
Emotionally, perhaps unconsciously (if you buy into Freud[3]), Terak has multiple demons he wrestles with when he lets his guard down. The only thing that's ever taken him down has been himself. Doubt and self-defeat are powerful and poisonous thoughts, and Terak understands this all too well. Despite his powerful will and his strong convictions, Terak falls to his own questioning every so often, sometimes resulting in bouts of drinking, or considerations of retirement. But, he always comes out on top again, ready to continue. Whether or not he will one day fall permanently is hard to say.
All of this makes Terak, well, hard to get along with. Not only is he the prodigal "lone wolf", so to speak, but he is also outwardly austere, and rather unfriendly. This is not to say he is impolite or mean, but he is not the warmest person to be around. He respects others, regardless of belief or origin, so long as they respect him, and will only lash out or make demands if he believes himself being infringed upon.
[edit] Social and Moral Description
Terak's place in society as it stands now could best be explained as...non-existent. He is rather wealthy, but maintains no permanent housing. He is an illegal operative, and is not on good terms with the law in any country. He has no lasting acquaintances, no immediate family to speak of, and remains unmarried, for obvious reasons if you've read of the aforementioned behaviors. He is literally alone, and quite invisible. However, the assassin also maintains recognition in multiple circles, most notably in the criminal underground and numerous non-human organizations. He is a known hunter of non-humans and non-human sympathizers, though yet to become anything close to a legend among them.
Terak's convictions are stronger than any titan, and in his mind, absolute truth. Terak is a proponent of human-centered philosophies, including Renaissance Humanism[4] and Ayn Rand's Objectivism[5]. He believes that homo sapiens as a species are heroic beings, and innately perfectible. He is an atheist, and a strong supporter of scientific inquiry. Through relentless study, introspection, meditation, and retrospection, Terak has arrived at these conclusions. Naturally, this inclination towards humans would lead to even slight anti-nonhuman sentiment. And so it did with Terak. Terak believes that Earth is homo sapiens' planet by default, having become the natural dominant species, and that all control and maintenance of the planet should be in the hands of humans.
Terak's views on non-humans are varied, and specific to the types of non-human. He is no xenophobe[6], blindly lashing out at a perceived infringement. He is not blinded by any hatred for non-humans, nor repulsiveness by their differences. His morality is not born of malice. He only believes human affairs are not to be meddled with by any outside entity; "We have our own problems" he maintains. He understands that many non-humans might have good intentions, but he is absolutely set on removing their presence from the world, through cooperative means or otherwise. To quote him from an anonymous essay excerpt sent to the Paragon Times:
This is our world. We were born here with the rational faculties to break the world to our interest, and therefore it is ours. We toil this planet, we die on this planet, we kill on this planet; it is ours. Accidents, aliens, and experiments cannot be allowed here any longer. They must understand that they only remain here because of us, and can be removed by us. On Earth, we are the rightful power, but when I look upon today, we are not living up to our position. We are handing this planet over to them on a silver platter. It cannot be allowed to continue! I bare no hatred for those different than us. I am no xenophobe, only a responsible member and protector of my species. This is our world, we make the rules. All non-humans must vacate their stolen abodes, and leave our birthplace. Only then will peace begin, and only then will the killing cease.
Terak's very life revolves around the premises supplied by this statement, and he will stop at nothing to fulfill his vision.
[edit] Abilities
Agent Terak is a master swordsman, and expert martial artist. He has traveled the world, in his youth, learning multiple disciplines, disciplines that not only strengthen body and mind, but perfect the spirit as well. Kenjutsu[7], the Japanese martial art specializing in the use of the Japanese Katana[8], is Terak's primary discipline, and the one which he has mastered to the greatest degree. He has also learned Tae Kwon Do[9], Capoeira[10], Jujutsu[11], Eskrima[12], and Parkour[13].
The warrior has also made it a point to be lethal in both short and long range affairs, and has become a master archer[14]. The art of the archer has taught Terak amazing patience and accuracy, and sharpened his senses. With the bow completing his arsenal, he is a true hunter. He is a master of Kyudo[15], the Japanese art of archery, but practices his own unique, more urbanized form.
Also, as mentioned before, Terak's control over his body enables him to perform seemingly inhuman feats. As a general rule, with enough concentration and willpower, Terak can run twice as fast, lift twice as much, leap twice as high, and move twice as quickly than he normally could. Of course, this state can only last seconds, if that long at all.
Terak is also very well acquainted with modern technology, all they way up to cybernetic applications. While he is not in any way modified, his Ultima-Suit and his environment call for a deep understanding of the technology that run them both. He is an experienced mechanic, and a well read technician and electrician. While he could not build his own devices from mental notes alone, he is quite qualified to repair and maintain his own equipment in such a fashion.
A few lesser practiced abilities include: sword making, alchemy, and cooking.

[edit] The Ultima-Suit
Agent Terak stole the prototype Ultima-Suit from a weapons development corporation in China. He never discovered the motives of the project, but did realize why it was under such heavy guard. The suit is similar to a wet suit, only thicker and of a much more rubber-like consistency. The material is nano-engineered to be extremely durable, yet substantially flexible. The suit is outfitted with a web of circuitry and wiring, through which a current is applied. When the right amount of current is applied to specific areas of the suit, the function of that area increases. For instance, if more current is applied to the hand region, the material becomes stronger and more powerful, allowing the user to crush an opponents hand without effort.
The suit is two pieces: a body-suit and a helmet. The helmet provides the power to the rest of the suit via a small power cell. The suit is easily recognizable when powered, as it glows red along the circuitry packages with current, and remains black and gray when without.
The suit grants its user a whole host of abilities. The power system allows superhuman strength, speed, leaping, and durability. The Ultima-Suit's helmet is made of Impervium, protecting Terak's head in an indestructible shell. The helm provides power to the suit, as well as night vision, laser microphone, heat vision, multifaceted communications array, voice box, and breathing mask. The suit is airtight, and fit for undersea, cold, hot, arid, and humid environments. It has not been tested by Terak (and as far as he knows, nor its developers) in extreme environments such as a vacuum or extreme temperature areas.
One of the suit's most outstanding attributes is it's stealth capabilities. Not only are the feet and hand sections padded for minimum noise when running or climbing, but the suit's overlay contains reactive cells that, when a constant current is applied, bend light away from the suit, effectively making it invisible to the naked eye. The invisibility can extend as far as a five foot radius, able to conceal anything within it, including his sword and cape. The suit's material is also able to absorb radio waves/microwaves to a degree where motion detection by radar is impossible. The suit is a stealth operative's dream, and anyone with as much training as Terak wearing it becomes a ghost: invisible, silent, and deadly.
Another feature that only adds to the usefulness and effectiveness is a special network of resonators built into the body suit that allow teleportation. The more current, the further the teleport. Also, the suit can charge itself for long range teleports, and target objects or people. Terak makes use of the suits teleport abilities in combat and in travel.
The suit must be powered for any of the aforementioned attributes to function. Unpowered, the suit is, at best, a riot cop's uniform. It offers only moderate ballistics and penetration protection in comparison to it's powered state.
Terak has made some very moderate changes to the suit, installing taser-cables that fire from the bottom of the wrist, wrap around the target (if they are close enough; range is about 3 meters, at which distance they will only hook into the target), and electrocute them. The amount of current once again depends on the application of the user; they can be used to kill. He also wears a harness and belt with multiple pockets for miniature gas bombs, lock picks, syringes, caltrops, and throwing stars. Often he will leave a couple empty to carry items he finds on his missions. A more whimsical, though still practical addition is a cape made of airtight and waterproof fiber attached to the shoulder area of the harness. Not only does it add a bit more personality and theatricality to the Ultima-Suit, but it often provides Terak with a defensive and even offensive item. Over the years he has become more and more adept at using the cape in battle to startle opponents, disarm them, stun them, or even suffocate them.
[edit] The Swords
A sword master needs a masterful sword, and Agent Terak is no exception. The assassin has one of two blades with him at ALL times, much like the samurai of ancient times. Unless absolutely necessary, he will refuse to disarm, or even conceal his blade.
When dressed in the Ultima-Suit, Terak carries his custom made Impervium Katana. The blade is virtually indestructible, having never failed to cut something Terak had enough power for. So long as the strike is strong enough, the blade will cut. It is certainty. Though somewhat large for normal assassination missions, it is well suited for hunting non-humans. Sporting a red colored ceramic grip and no habaki, the sword rests in a sheath on his back, underneath his cape.
When dressed in more casual garb, Agent Terak carries a ninjato. After killing the very Yakuza crime lord who cut his right eye, he took his sword for his own. Made of fine Japanese steel, the blade is a very effective and agile weapon. It is well suited for more closed environments, such as a bar, restroom, or subway, places where Terak will have been caught without his full arsenal. The hilt is wrapped in a tightly woven blue, gray, and white cloth combination, with a blue steel habaki.

[edit] OOC Section: Notes, Inspiration, and Comments
[edit] Notes
Coming soon!
[edit] Inspiration
My inspirations for the character are many. They range as far as Darth Vader to Kill Bill. I wanted something American, yet with a bit of anime in it.
The costume, in MY head anyways, kinda looks like something you'd find in some technology oriented cyberpunk anime. Costume inspirations include: Tron, Darth Vader, Master Chief (the underlay of the Mjolnir armor, as described in the novels), Arthas, Splinter Cell, Cyborg Ninja (a.k.a. Gray Fox), Batman Begins, and a very vague anime-esque villain image. :P
As for the character himself, the philosophies mentioned above were big influences, as was myself. This is the character I've put the most of me into, so sometimes, during interaction, it's less like roleplaying, especially when Terak finds himself in a philosophical argument. Don't worry, I'm well aware that it's still a character, even if I'm feeding him part of me during play. Character influences include: Darth Malak, Darth Vader, Darth Revan, John Galt, Ra's Al Ghul (though probably more from the movie; Liam Neeson was good), Deus Ex (general mood and atmosphere), Nine Inch Nails (same reason), Bill, and Tom Cruise in the Last Samurai (just kidding).
[edit] Comments
This section here is for any comment you would like you leave. They can be IC or OOC. Please leave your character's name/chat handle in a link next to your comment like so:
"comment blah blah yaddah yah" -- "character name"
It's like you're signing it. Got it? Of course, you can leave an anonymous comment if you wish, but what's the fun in that!?
[edit] Agent Terak: The Soundtrack
Year Zero by Nine Inch Nails[16]
This is album does not depict more personal commentary as with Reznor's previous albums, but a not-too-distant dystopian future. It's more or less a commentary on the way he thinks our country is going. The album is especially gritty because of it, and even though most of NIN's stuff fits Terak's persona, I wanted to showcase this one because of it.
Deus Ex Original Soundtrack by Alexander Brandon[17]
This soundtrack is still one of my favorites. You can feel the dystopia coming from the beautiful synthesized tracks. Though it could just be nostalgia, I think the soundtrack fits well with Terak, especially the more Asian-oriented tracks.
Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun (Original Soundtrack) by Frank Klepacki and Jerred Mendelson[18]
Yes, another game soundtrack. But some of the tracks here are very dystopian and technologically reminiscent. When Terak is standing atop a tall building, over looking the city, cape blowing in the wind, this is the album I turn to.
Blade Runner by Vangelis[19]
When you need a really melancholy future theme, or a great love theme, this is the album to turn to. Though it may be just an excuse to listen to the soundtrack of my favorite movie of all time, the track "Blade Runner Blues" is always a noir-inspired listen, and sometimes it fits just right.
