The Alpha's are the founders of the ASPCA. Their role is purely ceremonial these days, most of the work is being done by the Beta's

Ever since the silk revolution, most of the work is being done by the Betas. If something is extremely crucial is on the agenda, the Alphas are consulted. This is also the highest rank someone can be promoted to; the rank of Alpha has been reserved for the founders of the group.
